Eclipse MM Exchange

What is it?

Eclipse MM Exchange is a carrier-grade Content Enablement Platform which allows Operators to open up their networks for access by third party Service Providers (SPs). This enables the provision and delivery of additional mobile messaging services to subscribers. It can also be deployed into Content Aggregators as a gateway to provide content or applications into multiple operators’ networks. The main functions of Eclipse MM Exchange include:

  • Link Management
  • Link Selection
  • Message Routing
  • Protocol Conversion
  • Traffic Reporting
  • Customer Care
  • Message Archiving

Eclipse MM Exchange provides a single node for the seamless integration of a diverse range of external messaging services from multiple SPs with core network components such as the SMSC, MMSC and WAP Gateway. It also provides Content Aggregators the ability to manage their usage of Premium SMS and MMS connections.

For reporting and customer care purposes, MM Exchange also provides sophisticated tools and user interfaces to allow operators and aggregator to monitor and analyse application and subscriber usage.

How does it work?

Eclipse MM Exchange supports the complete range of SMSC access protocols, including both the original “Telco” protocols such as SMPP, UCP/EMI, OIS, CIMD2 as well as the newer Internet protocols such as HTTP, SMTP and XML.  For MMSC connectivity, Eclipse MM Exchange supports both the 3GPP industry standard protocols 3GPP MM7, 3GPP, MM4 as well as vendor specific protocols to Nokia and Ericsson MMSCs.

Recognising the different needs of Service Providers, Eclipse MM Exchange offers a range of interfaces with which to connect to Eclipse MM Exchange.  Protocols supported include SMPP, UCP/EMI, HTTP and SMTP.  SDKs are provided for application developers who need to tightly integrate messaging into their application logic.

Eclipse MM Exchange is deployed in either a simplex or HA configuration (1+1) on Linux operating system on HP Intel hardware, where each node is capable of handling over 300 messages per second. Eclipse MM Exchange offers a fully redundant solution for operators.

Deployment options

Eclipse MM Exchange can be deployed as a managed service from Anam, hosted in one of our hosting centres worldwide to help operators and aggregators to efficiently manage trials and then launch of new services.
