Dear WAS#4 delegates,

It was truly Anam’s pleasure to bring GSMA’s WAS#4 meeting to Ireland (the largest BARG or WAS meeting to date). For 4 days from Oct 31st until Nov 3, 2016 the Convention Centre in Dublin’s city centre played host to 1200 attendees who came from more than 140 countries and representing 300 global mobile operators. We are overwhelmed with positive feedback on the event, from delegates most of whom had never been to Ireland but have vowed to return. I would like to thank my team at Anam for embracing the opportunity to host this prestigious meeting and for delivering such a successful event.

The international diversity of the WAS community is mirrored here in Ireland where our small highly globalised economy has a large exporting sector and a significant number of multinational corporations.  An English speaking country in the Eurozone, Ireland’s highly educated, innovative and young population offers a multinational and multilingual melting pot of skills with a positive attitude to match. Also in line with WAS gatherings, Ireland is growing – the economy here grew at 7.8% in 2015, the fastest rate in Europe.

The fit between WAS and Ireland was also evident on the social front – WAS meetings represent a quite unique combination of social and business interaction and Irelands “friendly and welcoming people” combined with our hospitality facilitated this aspect of WAS, forging stronger deeper linkages between people and organisations. Our visit to the Guinness Storehouse on Tuesday evening was very well received.

Finally I wish to thank the GSMA for selecting ANAM as the Host for WAS#4 , I thank you, the delegates, for attending in such great numbers and we look forward to progressing friendships and business at WAS#5 next March in Macau.

Noel Kelly,
CEO
