03 Feb Anam Technologies Launches New Research & Development Board in Dublin
Professor of Engineering at University College Dublin heads up board to drive technological innovation in Mobile Telecoms Security
Dublin, 2nd February 2015. Anam Technologies, the leading A2P (Application to Person) Revenue Assurance partner for mobile operators, has today announced the launch of its Research and Development (R&D) Board to promote research-based technological innovation. Members of the Board, which is chaired by Professor Gerry Byrne, a Professor of Engineering at University College Dublin (UCD), will be responsible for all R&D activity and innovation for Anam Technologies in the mobile telecoms and emerging Internet of Things (IoT) markets.
With the rise of A2P messaging and rapid emergence of the Internet of Things, the industry has seen a complete revolution in how society communicates and interacts with one another, resulting in a drive for new, highly secure and intelligent communications systems. The Anam R&D Board will be responsible for developing a Roadmap for Anam and its technology, which shall serve as the blueprint for the products and innovations that will be introduced into this rapidly changing market.
With more than 35 years professional engineering and management experience, 25 years in Ireland and 10 years in Germany, the Board is to be headed up Gerry Byrne, one of Ireland’s most eminent engineers. Gerry, who is a graduate of engineering from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Trinity College Dublin and the Technical University Berlin where he undertook his Doktor-Ingenieur degree, has held roles at Daimler Benz as well as being a Past-President of the Collége International pour L’Étude des Techniques de Production Méchanique, The Institution of Engineers of Ireland and the Irish Academy of Engineering. He also holds an honorary doctorate and honorary professorship in recognition of his outstanding international contribution as an innovator in engineering and business.
Joining Gerry on the Board will be Anam’s Chief Technology Officer, John Murtagh and Darragh Kelly, Chairman of Anam Technologies Board of Directors.
Commenting on being appointed chair of the Anam R&D Board, Professor Gerry Byrne said: “The way I see engineering developing in the future, we will soon be in a world where different disciplines will converge. The rise of the Internet of Things, and the prospect of Smart Cities and Smart Advanced Manufacturing on the horizon, is testament to this development. This is driving the need for more intelligent solutions that not only are collaborative, intuitive and ubiquitous but also highly secure. With a very solid engineering and proven innovative foundation, this is where I see Anam as a key enabler and significant player in this converging world”.
“Anam is high in the rankings of being best in class internationally in mobile security. The new R&D Board will be working to identify where particular products are reaching their market peak and to drive a new curve of product innovation within the industry.”
Anam Technologies CEO, Louise O’Sullivan said: “Ireland has a long standing reputation for being at the forefront of engineering innovation, notably in the Telecoms sector. The establishment of our R&D Board reflects our commitment to solid research in core network engineering and security for both legacy, for example 2G, 2.5G and 3G, and next generation networks, such as 4G and 5G. Anam has extensive expertise in SS7, Diameter, SIP, M2M and messaging technologies. As the networks grow and evolve and challenges with new use cases and security proliferate we will be in a place to provide a platinum engineered offering to the market”.
Marrying the extensive experience that Professor Gerry Byrne has, in bringing engineering innovation from the theory to reality, with the knowledge and deep expertise that Anam has in its engineering team headed by John Murtagh is a powerful mix. We are always looking for new and better ways for our customers to optimise their network for security and commerciality.”
